Personal Profile

I am highly motivated, decisive and calm under pressure. I have an aptitude for learning and enjoy implementing new ideas and technologies. I am an effective communicator with customers, clients, technical staff or management usually bridging the gap between them within the business. I am equally comfortable in either one-on-one meetings or managing group workshops and have a strong belief that open communication is the key to any project’s success. SharePoint is my speciality.

Career History

IT Services, University of the West of England (UWE): April 2004 – October 2007

Senior Systems Designer, SharePoint Team

My main role throughout this time has been to consolidate the application layer at UWE, and use SharePoint as a tool to achieve this, starting with SharePoint 2003 and in the last two years SP2007. The aim was to create new user based applications using SharePoint and tools like Skelta Workflows and Microsoft InfoPath which would eliminate the (many) remaining paper based ad-hoc systems that exist outside of the main IS. As SharePoint grew and became more widespread, my role has changed to act as an advocate for SharePoint within the business, and as more departments take up and use it to act as an architect to work with the departments and design larger scale site structures. I therefore have contact at all parts of the process, from initial requirements gathering through to system design, implementation, acceptance testing and even user training (I recently completed UWE’s training the trainer modules). Spin-off projects now include a replacement CMS and the new EDRMS, with the EDRMS system to be integrated with SharePoint.
