Barents Secretariat Tower / Reiulf Ramstad Architects

Via Archdaily.com

Following on from the article Timber is the New Concrete that I posted a while back, Reiulf Ramstad Architects have designed a 17 storey tall wooden cultural centre for Kirkenes, Norway. The Norwegian Barents Secretariat hopes their tower will ”serve as a physical symbol of their important role in the High North – a lighthouse of sorts and a beacon of knowledge and development.”

The Tower will be built using natural recycled materials and uses integrated systems that will allow the structure to adapt to the changing seasons. It includes offices, a library and a theatre.
